The blend of magnesium and calcium carbonate is added to the sachets to help reduce stomach acid to prevent the Zeolite Clinoptilolite from being broken down by stomach acid.

Adding the carbonate is very important for Zeolite safety, as it assures that stomach acid doesn't destroy the Zeolite.
